Home alterations & permissions
As a home-owner you have the right to improve your home, but in some circumstances, particularly when considering structural improvements, you will need written permission from us first. This is because, as a landlord, we have an investment in your home and a responsibility to other residents.
We will need to check the terms of your lease to ensure that you have the right to do what has been requested. We will not refuse permission unless we have a good reason to do so.
You may also need to get planning permission and building regulations consent before starting work. Please contact your local Council about this.
We do not need to know about minor work such as decorating, putting up shelves, or some other minor improvements, but we do need to know about any alterations which affect the structure and fabric of the building, plumbing or electrical services.
